Prompts for Learning English with ChatGPT

Prompts for Learning English with ChatGPT
ChatGPT can be a powerful tool for learning English — especially when you need to practice with a language partner, internalize grammar rules, or expand your vocabulary. Below you’ll find ready-to-use prompt examples for a variety of purposes.
Practicing verb tenses
I want you to help me learn English, you will give me an example using the tenses in English including subcategories without any explanation, and ask me which tense the sentence belongs to, after my answer even if I know or don’t know, you will write the correct tense for me and give me another example.
Vocabulary learning and quiz
I want to improve my English vocabulary. Give me 5 intermediate-level English words I probably don’t know yet, with their definitions, example sentences, and Turkish translations. After showing them, quiz me by giving sentences with blanks and asking me to fill in the correct word.
Grammar correction
Act as an English grammar corrector. I will write sentences in English and you will correct any grammar mistakes, explain what was wrong and why, then give me a similar sentence to practice writing correctly.
Writing practice
I want to practice writing in English. Give me a topic to write about (3–5 sentences are enough). After I write, correct my grammar and vocabulary, suggest improvements, and rate my writing from 1 to 10 with a brief explanation.
Conversation simulation
Let’s have a conversation in English. You will play the role of a native English speaker. Correct my mistakes naturally within the conversation, and if I make a significant error, point it out after your reply with a brief explanation.
Idioms and set phrases
Teach me 3 common English idioms or collocations used in everyday conversation. Explain what each one means, give two example sentences for each, and tell me a situation where I might use them.
Listening and comprehension test
Write a short paragraph (5–6 sentences) at B1 level English about any everyday topic. Then ask me 3 comprehension questions about it. After I answer, tell me which ones I got right and explain the correct answers for the ones I missed.
Usage tip: You can paste these prompts as-is, or customize them by adding words like “beginner / intermediate / advanced” to match your current level.
